 In view of our rapid expansion, we are in the process of strengthening our finance function by recruiting, qualified experienced, competent and highly motivated individuals to fill the positions of Financial Accountant.

Responsible to: Senior Accountant

Department: Finance

Overall Responsibility: Safeguarding Company’s cash and bank and overall operational efficiency and effectiveness of the Company’s cashbook. Ensuring smooth/prompt processing of work, maintaining acceptable levels of discipline, job performance and productivity within the department. Researching and investment of funds in full compliance with the shariah principles. Key Tasks, Duties and Responsibilities

  • Bank reconciliations for all the company’s accounts, adjustments/ journals and investigations. Investigating and resolving the outstanding issues/reconciling items after bank reconciliations Journalizing funds transfers and preparing the accompanying authority letters
  • Supervise the capturing of general business receipts at branches and direct bank and mpesa deposits for brokers and agents
  • Confirming cheque clearances
  • Passing journal vouchers
  • Gathering and analyzing financial data and making recommendations about the various investment classes in line with Shariah principles.
  • Building strong business relationships with banks, regulatory authority etc.
  • Liaison and relations between the company and its bankers for all appropriate transactions Accounting for incoming and outgoing RTGS/TTs/SWIFT/EFTs and issuing of disposal and bank stop payment instructions
  • Tender security bonds and other responsibilities – e.g. calls for details of credits/debits, bank balance confirmations, auditors’ circularization, bank statement requests, etc
  • Planning of company cash flow by analyzing trends, using available information and interaction with the relevant business units and the company’s budgets.
  • Assisting and managing the treasury function during audits and leading the business continuity projects for the Treasury unit.
  • Generating reports and essential schedules for financial year-end and interim/statutory audit and the production and provision of appropriate treasury-related reports and guidelines.
  • Cash/bank balances control and investments
  • All treasury-related queries and correspondences; processing and responding to queries and liaison – banks, internal staff and clientele.
  • Several authorizations necessary for the fulfillment of the foregoing duties.
  • Supervises assistant accountants involved in working capital management.
  • Any other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor.

Key Deliverables

  • Safeguarding company’s assets (cash) and overall operational efficiency and effectiveness of the company’s cash, bank and general ledger resulting in a proper and reliable databank for the company’s bank accounts.
  • Contributes to negotiating best deals especially investments for the company and contributes to the maximization of benefits on the company’s cash or bank (account) transactions.

Functional Skills

  • CPA K
  • Computer literacy

 Experience

  • 5 years working experience in finance; insurance exposure would be an added advantage
